ZTE Corp forays into India's Smart Grid solution market

To focus on smart grid solutions, clouding computing solutions, video conferencing and video surveillance solutions

PTI | September 16, 2011

Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE Corporation today announced its foray into the Smart Grid solutions to address the needs of the power sector in India.

The company has launched a range of end-to-end solutions which will address the need for creation of Smart Grids in the country, the company said in a statement.

ZTE will focus on providing end-to-end smart grid solutions, including smart metres, transmission networks, clouding computing solutions, video conferencing and video surveillance solutions, along with next generation contact centre solutions.

"The demand for power in India is far outstripping supply and a significant percentage of power generated is lost during transmission due to which power generation & distribution companies are focusing on adopting efficiency enhancement solutions," ZTE India CEO Cui Liangjun said.

ZTE has entered into partnerships with infrastructure vendors and system integrators like Dongfang Electronics and TCIL for jointly offering these solutions to power generation and distribution companies in India.

The company is also in advanced talks with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to offer its range of end-to-end Smart Grid solutions.
