In the wake of the commonweath games scam, Kerala government has made it mandatory for the officials, in charge of the 35th National Games to declare their assets.

"The objective of the decision is to keep the Games corruption free. Officials should publish all documents in connection with the Games on respective websites," sports minister K B Ganesh Kumar told reporters in Thiruvanantpuram on Monday.

All higher officials of the national games secretariat, functioning in Kerala, should declare their assets, he said while inaugurating a function in connection with the National Sports Day celebrations.

The minister also wanted officials of the state Sports Council and related outfits to declare their assets to bring in transparency.

He said the sports policy of Kerala would be announced in three months. And that the policy would have a number of practical plans to revive and modernise the state sports scenario.

"The draft of the policy is already ready. We now plan to organise a workshop soon to elicit the views of sports personalities, coaches and other experts to formulate plans," the minister said.

He said Kerala would change the norms for selecting sportspersons for various meets in accordance with that of Sports Authority of India to ensure high quality of sports events.
