Taking note of the frequent accidental killings of people in celebratory firing during weddings and other functions, the city police has decided to register FIR against the guilty and cancel their licences.

Police officers would be present in disguise at weddings and other celebrations in the city from now and any person found firing in the air would be immediately arrested, DIG City Prem Prakash said.

An FIR would be filed against that person and his licence would also be seized, he said.

In the latest incidents of accidents being caused due to celebratory firing, one person was killed and another was seriously injured due to firing of gun shots in the air at two weddings here on Tuesday, he said.
