Amarinder alleges police terror

PTI | April 9, 2012

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today alleged that police were letting loose a reign of terror in Rampura Phull at Bathinda against partymen and threatened to flood jails with supporters if it continued.

He claimed that "failing to arrest those whom they have falsely implicated under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC, police instead have detained their relatives including Dilawar Singh (10), Swaran Singh (12), Sarabjit Singh (14), Amandeep Singh (17), Nirbhay Singh (75) and 82- year-old Sardool Singh."

According to the former chief minister, on April 7-8, a posse of about two dozen policemen led by SHO Dayalpur in Rampura sub-division (Sikander Singh) descended on the houses of the Congress workers who have been falsely booked in a case under section 307 of the IPC and ran amuck.

"They beat up the family members including children and women, ransacked the houses and took away valuables," he alleged.
