Insurgency-hit Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh is all set to embark on a new path of development with the planning commission agreeing in principal for expansion of the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCRMP) with an initial financial outlay of Rs 100 crore.

"It is good news for the people of both the districts as it will help in solving the unemployment problem and assist local people to enhance their livelihood in a sustainable way," Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal East constituency Ninong Ering said in a communique on Tuesday.

The project aims to improve the livelihood of vulnerable groups in a sustainable manner through improved management of their resource base in a way that contributes to preservation and restoration of the environment.

Ering further informed that he had discussions with union minister of urban development Kamal Nath and minister of road, transport and highways C P Joshi on the Khonsa Road, the life-line of the people.

"The road is going to be taken up either under inter-state connectivity of CRF (central road fund) project and likely to declare it as a national highway," he added.
