The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has approached the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) seeking allotment of land in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to expand its operational footprint in the metro.

BSE managing director and CEO Sundararaman Ramamurthy and chief regulatory officer Kamala Kantharaj met Sanjay Mukherjee, metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA, to discuss the identification of a suitable land parcel for the proposed expansion.

With the growing demand for office space by financial institutions, multinational corporations, and global investment firms, BKC is also home to the  recent expansion of the National Stock Exchange of India.

“MMRDA is working to strengthen Mumbai’s commercial infrastructure and will coordinate with BSE to identify and allocate a suitable land parcel. The proposed expansion is expected to enhance BSE’s operational capacity while contributing to the continued growth of BKC and reinforcing Mumbai’s position as India’s financial capital," said MMRDA in a statement issued Saturday.
