CCPA's agenda: petro price hike, army chief's age

All eyes on union budget, railway budget dates

The cabinet committee on political affairs (CCPA) is meeting on Wednesday afternoon with a lot of items on the agenda. It will consider the petrol price hike option, the controversy over the army chief's age, proroging parliament and summoning of the budget session.
 
Once CCPA takes a political decision, the cabinet committee on parliamentary affairs will meet on Friday to decide broadly on the budget session schedule.
 
The cabient committee on parliamentary affairs will decide the date to be fixed for the president's address to the joint session of parliament as it is customary. Meranwhile, this will be Pratibha Patil's last such address to parliament.
 
All eyes are on the dates for three crucial events presenting economic survey, railways budget and the union budget. Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee has already indicated that the union budget would be presented only after the completion of the assembly elections, the results of which are scheduled to be announced on March 5.
