CIL to import 15 mt coal from 2015

Coal India (CIL) which has received requests to import 15 million tonne of coal from around 60 customers is likely to start importing from financial year 2015.

According to a new report in The Financial Express, B K Saxena, director (marketing) said that the imports would take some time as there are no demands for immediate requirement. The order has come after it decided to import 15% of its total requirement to meet fuel supply agreement (FSA) obligations. has received requests from

CIL would award a contract of one and a half years to the suppliers of imported coal. The contract will feature an escalation clause and a clause to add to the quantity of order if there is any increase in demand.

To guard against accumulating dues of coal sales, Saxena said that they will be taking an advance payment for 90-100% from the customers.
