Expressing happiness over Anna Hazare's decision to end his fast, Union Coal Minister Sree Prakash Jaiswal said when the Jan Lokpal Bill would go to the Standing Committee, there would be surprising results which would help in completely eradicating corruption from India.

"The way three demands of Anna Hazare have been accepted by the Parliament in last two days, it is historic and Hazare and the whole country should be congratulated for this peaceful movement," Jaiswal said.

When asked about the delay in accepting Hazare's demands, he said it happened because "we have a coalition government in the Centre and we have to respect the views of our party workers and partners... This is why we were late".

People supported Hazare because he was a clean and an honest leader but his team had committed a few mistakes for which the people could not be blamed, Jaiswal said.

He said: "I am myself pained to see that the money allocated for the welfare of the poor is not reaching to them due to corruption".
