Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) (JVM) MP from Jamshedpur, Ajay Kumar on Tuesday said his party would install about 1500 solar lights in rural pockets of East Singhbhum district in a year's time.

Kumar, who sat on a day-long fast here in support of Anna Hazare's Jan Lokpal bill, told newsmen that JVM has already started working on it and a meeting would be convened in a week's time to give it a final shape.

We have targeted to install 1500 solar lights in rural pockets of the district in a year's time and the work would begin soon, JVM MP assured claiming that each solar light would cost around Rs 50,000.

Criticising state government's tardy rural electrification work, he said JVM also have plan to dig about 700 ponds in the district to address water crisis.

Besides, he said, JVM would soon meet the district administration to demand for setting up of two check dam in Domuhani, a confluence of rivers Kharkhai and Swarnarekha here.

The proposal would help solve the prevailing acute water supply to a great extent particularly in areas like Jugsalai, Bagbera and Mango, he said adding that the propose projects would also increase the underground water level in these areas.

Advocating strongly for inclusion of Jharkhand chief minister under purview of Lokayukta in the state, Kumar accused the state government for failing to check corruption in every sphere including mining and recruitment processes.

The mineral-rich Jharkhand lagged behind as the government failed to check rampant corruption prevailing in the state, he added.

Meanwhile, the central committee secretary of JVM, Abhay Singh, the brain behind these proposed projects, told PTI that the projects were neither state or Union government sponsored but the initiative of the party.
