MEA control room up to cordinate rescue and relief in Leh

Ministry is coordinating with embassies for information on missing/injured tourists

Government has set up a special control room in the Ministry of External Affairs to streamline the collation and dissemination of information on foreigners affected in the recent flash floods in Leh.

"Information about Indians and foreign nationals who have sadly lost their lives, have been injured or stranded in different parts, is being collated by agencies involved in rescue and relief effort," an official release by the ministry said today.

It said enquiries were being received by the MEA from relatives and Embassies in New Delhi and the ministry has been in close touch with the concerned agencies in this regard.

"In order to streamline the collation and dissemination of information, a Special Control Room has been set up in MEA.....The Special Control Room may be contacted for information relating to foreign nationals affected by the flash floods," it said.
