Metro services to be hit tomorrow

Metro services may be affected due to beating retreat ceremony

PTI | January 28, 2011

Services on two Delhi Metro lines will be partially affected tomorrow on the occasion of the Beating Retreat ceremony that brings the curtains down on the Republic Day celebrations.

The lines -- Line 2 (Jahangirpuri-HUDA City Centre) and Line 6 (Central Secretariat-Badarpur) -- will be affected due to restrictions imposed by the Delhi Police, a DMRC spokesman said.

No metro service will be available at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations of Line 2 and Central Secretariat of Line-6 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, he said.

The two stations are close to Rajpath, where the Beating Retreat ceremony takes place.

However, passengers can avail interchange facility between Line 2 and 6 at the Central Secretariat station.

Normal Metro train operations will be resumed after 6.30 pm, the spokesman said, adding that services on other lines will remain unaffected.

Metro services were partially affected on Wednesday in view of the Republic Day Celebrations at Rajpath.
