... Venkaiah Naidu in charge of Maha, Delhi; Ananth Kumar for madhya Pradesh and Bihar

Five months fater becoming the BJP president, Nitin Gadkari belatedly divided the rsponsibilities of states, cadres and cells among the party leaders today with former president Venkaiah Naidu being put in charge of Maharashtra and Delhi. Party general secretary Ananth Kumar will be looking after Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

Former Delhi mayor and nationalsecretary Arti Mehra will now be looking after party affairs in Goa while former journalist and MP Balbir Punj will be in charge of Gujarat. His Rajya Sabha colleague from Madhya Pradesh kaptan Singh Tomar will be responsible for Rajasthan. BJP secretary Kirit Somaiya has been entrusted to assist Tomar as sah-prabhari for the state.

Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje has been put in charge of Haryana for the distibution of work while party vice-president Najma Heptullah will be guarding party interests in Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Another BJP vice-president Hema Malini will be concerning herself with the party's cultural cell at the headquarters. Former Delhi BJP chief O P Kohli has been made in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir with R P Singh as his sah-prabhari.

General secretary Vijay Goel is in charge of Assam while secretary Varun Gandhi will be assisting him in election affairs in the state. Union m,inister in teh NDA government, Yashwant Sinha gets Punjab with captain Abhimanyu as his aide.

Karuna Shukla will now head the BJP's women's wing while Prakash Javadekar is in charge of the party's economic cell. The responsibilty for all-India tours and programmes has been reposed with four of teh party's central offic-bearers - Muktar Abbas naqvi, Vijay Goel, Kirit Somaiya and Bhupendra Yadav.Balasaheb Apte has been made in charge of the overseas friends of the BJP.
