PMO will disclose letters between Raja and PM

Says it has always provided information in response to RTI queries

The PMO has said that it will provide the copies of letters between former telecommunications minister A Raja and the Prime Minister to the RTI applicant.

The letters are significant in the wake of the 2G spectrum case in which the former minister is an accused.

On Tuesday, information commissioner Shailesh Gandhi had directed the PMO to disclose the attested copies of the letters.

PMO issues a statement on Wednesday saying that it has always provided the information sought, in response to RTI applications. “In the case reported upon in the media, the actual request made was not for these letters. As the Commission, after consulting the applicant, has reframed the request as requiring disclosure of the aforementioned correspondence, copies of the same would be made available to the applicant in this case as well,” said the statement.
