Saffron shots from Goa: Of free meal and nearly-skipped meet

Other news from Goa, Sushma Swaraj almost gave the party meeting a skip in solidarity with Advani

GN Bureau | June 7, 2013

In an extra-ordinary attempt to curry favour with journalists travelling to Goa on board an Indigo flight to cover the two-day national executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party, its general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Prasad Rudy offered to foot the mid-air lunch bill for the scribes!

The MP arranged for an in-flight announcement to be made telling the journalists that they can order airline food without having to pay. The rider? He only requested that journalists “file good reports”.

In an another development, Sushma Swaraj, leader of the party in the Lok Sabha, turned up at the meet three hours late. The buzz was that Swaraj was unhappy that her mentor Lal Krishna Advani had opted out of the meeting (owing to a stomach upset) and she had initially intended to make her dissatisfaction clear. It is also learnt that senior leaders managed to mollify her later.
