Tata Motors moves to supreme court against Calcutta high court order on Singur land refusing to stay distribution of land to owners at Singur.

In a statement, the company spokesperson said the Tata Motors Limited will raise the matter before the supreme court as per the country's legal procedure.

The Calcutta high court on Monday reused to pass an interim stay on the Tata Motors Limited plea that they were apprehensive that land in Singur would be distributed to the unwilling farmers from Tuesday.

The high court had noted the petitioner had submitted that if the prayer was not allowed and land distributed, the original petition challenging the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011 would become infructuous.

Tata Motors had moved an ex-parte petition seeking stay on distribution of land expressing apprehension that it would be given back to "unwilling" farmers within a day or two.
