Anti-bifurcation protests continue in all the districts of Seemaandhra region of Andhra Pradesh. Despite curfew in Vizainagaram town and shoot-at-sight orders issued by district authorities, violence is still going on. Agitators remain undeterred and indulged in fresh violence on Monday morning. Protesters clashed with police as they set up blockades on roads and highways. They also targetted PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana's properties. Police fired rubber bullets in Kothapeta and Gujulrega, on the outskirts of Vizianagaram, to disperse a mob that was about to torch Satya College run by Satyanarayana's brother.

The strike by electricity employees has started affecting power generation and supply in the state.

The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy appealed to the employees to resume their duties as hospitals and essential and emergency services were getting affected due to power outages. Officials at Dr Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station in Vijayawada said that six of the seven units had to be shut down. The South Central Railway cancelled several trains running on Kazipet-Vijayawada, Vijayawada-Gudur-Tirupati routes, expecting breakdown of power supply. Hundreds of villages in six coastal districts plunged into darkness as electricity employees went on strike.

Hospitals in coastal and Rayalseema region have also been affected with many operations being conducted with help of generators.
