The ministry of power has highlighted the features of UJALA (Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All) scheme that aims to provide efficient lighting across the country.

Here is a quick fact sheet of the scheme:

•    Over 10 crore LED bulbs distributed under the scheme
•    Target of distributing up to 77 crore LED bulbs in the next three years
•    Consumers to save approximately Rs 40,000 crore every year
•    Led bulbs already distributed will save Rs 5,194 crore annually on electricity bills
•    Reduction of about 10.5 million tonne of carbon dioxide every year
