Education and Training services network AISECT today announced the launch of Common Service Centre (CSC) project in three districts of Punjab.
It had recently signed an agreement with Punjab government for setting up 585 CSCs across 3 major districts Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Nawan Shahar within a year.
"In the two zones ? Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur - that have been allotted to us, we will be setting up 270 CSCs in Gurdaspur and 315 in Hoshiarpur. We have already appointed 29 block managers who will work closely with Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) to ensure a systematic and successful execution of the roll out process," said Anurag Gupta, Manager-CSC Project, AISECT, in a release issued here.
The AISECT CSCs will be offering various educational and training services including some IGNOU and CVRU courses.
The organization has also partnered with establishments like SBI, LIC, United India Insurance and Star Health to offer insurance services at these citizen service centres.
At the AISECT CSCs, villagers will also be able to avail services like railway reservation, bus and air ticketing, telecom services such as recharges and SIM sales, online recharges and bill payment, he said.
"We are also involved in the Financial Inclusion Scheme of the RBI wherein we are currently working in Madhya Pradesh as Business Correspondents (BC) and Business Facilitators (BF) for the State Bank of India. Even for AISECT CSCs in Punjab, Financial Inclusion is going to be an important area of intervention with the support of leading nationalized banks,' Gupta said.
CSC Project, as part of the National e-Governance Plan, is an initiative of the Department of Information Technology, Government of India, wherein it has proposed to roll out over 1,00,000 CSCs across the country, primarily in rural areas, with an equitable geographical spread that would cover at least 40 per cent of the Gram Panchayat locations in every district of a state.
Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSEGS) in the Department of Information Technology, Government of Punjab, has to set up 2112 CSCs under 10 zones in rural Punjab (one per 6 villages) to act as front-end service delivery points for government and business services to the citizens at the village level.
