A man has been arrested by cyber crime cell of Kerala Police for allegedly posting "slanderous content" about Nair community on his blog, officials said.

"Acting on a complaint by the Nair Service Society (NSS), the cyber crime cell tracked down K V Shine, a resident of Thuravoor in Alappuzha district, a few days ago and arrested him for allegedly posting slanderous write-ups on Nairs, an influential Hindu caste group of Kerala," an official said.

Shine surrendered before the cyber crime police yesterday following a lower court. He was released on bail after recording the arrest as ordered by the court, the official said.

"The man, a clerk in government service, had posted the unsavoury write ups using a Christian name to create communal ill will...He had been charged under section 66A of IT Act (defamation and creation of annoyance through cyber content), IPC 153 A (purposeful creation of communal violence)," Ajith Mohan of cyber crime police said.

In his complaint to the DGP, NSS general secretary P K Naryana Panicker had alleged the blog postings hurt the sentiments of the members of the community.
