Union Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, C P Joshi today clicked the mouse to launch a web enabled software for Indira Awaas Yojana named as AWAASSoft.

AWAASSoft is an e-governance solution for Indira Awaas Yojana is a local language enabled workflow based transactional level management information system to facilitate e-governance in the system. The system has been prepared and deployed at http://iay.nic.in by NIC in collaboration with the Ministry of Rural Development. The ministry claimed that the system is designed for all the stakeholders of IAY incliding the beneficiaries of the scheme. The portal http://iay.nic.in is claimed to be accessible to all including the national/international Community.

However the day long attempts by Governance Now team to access the portal http://iay.nic.in lead to the Under Construction page. The message reads that, "The site you were trying to reach does not currently have a default page. It may be in the process of being upgraded and configured."

If the portal was not accessible on day one of the launch its availability and application in future can be imagined.
