PTI | January 5, 2011

The Assembly Estimate Committee has recommended to the state government various suggestions for the growth of IT sector including the setting up of a single window system for the clearance to start IT ventures in the state.

The committee report, tabled in the House today, said the government should implement fast-track facility to acquire land for IT parks, ensure uninterrrupted power supply and to increase road and rail facilities by co-ordinating various state agencies.

Measures should be taken to increase IT exports proportionate to the increased space facility in Technopark.

More amount should be allotted in budget for various developmental activities in Technopark other than the acquisiton of land.

Talking to reporters, Estimate Committee Chairman P. Jayarajan said an effective mechanism to tackle e-waste produced by them should be developed with the support of local bodies as the number of IT parks coming up in public and private sectors are on rise in the state.

Digital Document Filing System (DDFS), an advanced free software, should be implemented in all departments in the state Secretariate as part of plans to make the administration system file-free.

Steps should also be taken to complete the digitalisation of government documents in a time bound manner,he said.

Since the existing laws are not effective to check cyber crimes, state IT department should take initiative to make legislation according to the central Information Technology Act.

To ensure the security of government websites, CERT-Kerla should be restarted, the Committee said.
