On August 9, Tata Communications announced appointment of DoT officials senior deputy director general AK Mittal and Deputy Director General Saurabh Tiwari on its board as permanent (non-retiring) directors. The company corrected its announcement that these officials will be addition director on the board till the next annual general meeting.

"They (DoT officials)have been appointed as additional directors on the Board to hold office up to the date of the ensuing Annual General Meeting," Tata Communications said in a filing to the BSE. The government holds minor stake in Tata Communications (formerly VSNL) and DoT officials on board of Tata Communications are representatives of the government.
