Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to observe September 25 as the 'Lok Seva Guarantee Day' in the state every year, officials said.  On this day last year, the Lok Seva Guarantee Act came into existence in the state and the same day is also celebrated as the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, one of the founders of BJP.

"The government has decided to observe September 25 as the Lok Seva Guarantee Day in the state every year," Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Department Rakesh Shrivastava told PTI.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while reviewing the progress of the Act on Sunday during the Commissioner and Collector's conference directed the officials to ensure opening of at least one centre in each city of the state by September 25 under the Act.

He also directed the officials to appoint staff under the Act at village level by September 15, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet spokesman and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Narottam Mishra said.

At present, 26 services (of nine departments) like khasra-khatouni (agriculture land ownership papers), bonafide resident certificate, application for water and power connection, handpump repairing complaints, social security pension, fall under the purview of the Act.

Based on the success of these services, government plans to bring 25 other services including birth and death certificate, marriage and income certificate, Deendayal Antyodaya Scheme, licence for fertiliser and pesticides, vehicle registration, electricity and post-mortem reports under it, to facilitate people.

The Chief Minister has directed the concerned officials to introduce such a software in the system that once an application is registered in the computer and no action is taken within a stipulated time, the application should automatically get converted into an appeal.
