An initiative of Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh to maintain an 'online diary' giving details of departmental works has met with a cold response from top babus.

More than 250 officials, including senior IAS and IPS officers, have not updated the "diary" which was aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in government departments.

The state government had on June 30 last year issued a circular directing additional chief secretary, principal secretaries, secretaries and head of departments under it to maintain the online diary mentioning details of their works completed during a month.

The officials were asked to mention all major decisions and works, details of achievements, tours undertaken within and outside the state, besides account of leaves taken on monthly basis, in this new electronic format specifically developed by National Informatics Centre.

As per the directive, entries of each month were to be made latest by 15th of the next month. However, according to information accessed under the RTI by social activist Ajay Dubey, 262 officials had not adhered to the CM's directive between January and June this year. The defaulting officers include principal secretaries, directors and Inspectors General of Police.
