No one involved in 2G spectrum scam would be spared: Scindia

Demand of JPC for 2G probe, unnecessary

PTI | December 13, 2010

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia today assured that no individual or company involved in the 2G spectrum scam would be spared.

"The government is ready for a total review and probe of the 2G spectrum issue and the committee headed by the Supreme Court's retired judge, Justice Shivraj B Patil, will go through the entire process right from 2001. Anybody found guilty will not be spared," Scindia told reporters.

On the issue of policy-related issues facing the telecom sector, he said that fast-changing technology makes this sector very dynamic and the same should be reflected in its policies also. Otherwise, it would cause a number of technology-related problems.

However, Scindia, who was earlier Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, stressed that such changes should not benefit only an individual or single company.

Meanwhile, he refused to comment on the letters exchanged between Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata and Rajya Sabha Member Rajiv Chandrashekhar on the issue, as it was not proper on his part in his capacity as a Union Minister.

Scindia also termed as "unnecessary", the BJP's demand for a JPC probe into the 2G scam.
