Revenue dept to fast track e-gov plan: J&K

Chief secretary stresses on providing support to facilitate youth in launching substantial livelihood earning units

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesay asked the revenue department to fast track its computerisation and upgradation process as part of its e-governance plan.

"Revenue department should fast track its computerisation and upgradation process to modernise functioning as part of e-governance plan", J&K Chief Secretary Madhav Lal said this while chairing the periodic Committee of Secretaries (COS) meeting here.

He added that offices at district and tehsil levels should be modernised and a database be provided to make information about revenue records easily accessible to public.

The Chief Secretary was also briefed on the status of Sher-e-Kashmir Employment Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEPY) initiative.

He stressed on providing support to facilitate youth in launching substantial livelihood earning units, saying: "Departments should cooperate in facilitating youths to establish livelihood ventures and articulate their abilities", he said.

The committee also discussed matters pertaining to computerisation and digitalisation of accounts in case of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), result frame work document, promotions of officers and vigilance clearance.
