Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today appreciated the e-governance initiatives taken by the state transport department for providing efficient services to the people.

Rosaiah, who discussed the initiatives with Transport Minister S Vijayarama Raju and top officials, expressed happiness that citizens need not approach agents and touts for securing a learning and driving licence.

The officials explained that it is now possible to get services like scheduling appointment for learning licence test or driving test at the touch of a button, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.

The customers can now complete most of the formalities like filling up of forms, making electronic payments, verification of documents and signatures and securing documents through speed post, the release said. "The slot system enables booking a slot for scheduling a learning licence test or a driving test. 94 per cent of the transactions relating to driving licence are online.

Friendly help desks help customers to ensure that all relevant forms and documents are filed for easy access of transactions," the release said.

The new AP Transport website offers a one-stop shop for all services of the transport. "The customer can check registration or licence related data on the website. Auction numbers for the day, National Permit payments, No Objection certificate issued and a host of other features can be viewed on the website", the release added.
