BHEL to manufacture electrics for AC EMU trains

 Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged a contract for 146 sets of electrics for AC electric multiple unit (EMU) trains. Mumbai recently got its first AC EMU train. 

The Rs 672 crore order has been placed on BHEL by rail coach factory (RCF), Kapurthala. BHEL has to design, manufacture, supply, installation and commission of propulsion system and other equipment for MEMU trains. 
 
These state-of-the-art system and equipment will be developed and produced by BHEL at its various manufacturing plants located at Bengaluru, Bhopal and Jhansi. 
 
The enterprise has been a reliable and trusted partner in the growth of Indian Railways for over 50 years. It has been supplying electric as well as diesel locomotives, EMUs, propulsion system sets and drives to railways. 
 
BHEL has supplied 360 electric locomotives of various ratings to Indian Railways.
