In a surprising development, the central bureau of investigation has told the Rajasthan high court that it was receiving threats and its witnesses in the Bhanwari Devi case were being forced to turn hostile. Agency counsel Panne Singh, during the hearing of the habeas corpus petition filed by Amarchand, husband of Bhanwari Devi, told the court that the CBI has done a fair investigation in this case, in which many influential politicians were involved.

The probe agency submitted the high-profile Bhanwari Devi murder case report in the high court on Tuesday. The investigating agency has requested the high court to shift the custody place of a few high-profile accused, so that they could not influence the investigating agency and witnesses in the murder case.

The CBI counsel also said that the investigating agency is under pressure because of these high-profile accused, due to which investigation is getting affected. The bench of justices Govind Mathur and KC Joshi asked CBI counsel Panne Singh to submit his charge in writing.

Among the 16 accused to be chargesheeted is ex-minister Mahipal Maderna and Congress MLA from Luni, Malkhan Singh Bishnoi. Panne Singh told the court, "Out of the 17 accused , 16 have been arrested and one is absconding. But witnesses have gone missing due to (political) pressure."
