Treasury mission mode project under national e-governance project approved

The Union Cabinet today approved the mission mode project for e-governance implementation in state treasuries at an overall cost of Rs. 626 crores.

The project is part of the national e-governance plan (NeGP) of the government and aims at the computerisation of the treasury function within the states.

It aims at creating a platform wherein the financial data can be shared amongst treasuries, state finance departments, accountant general (AG) Offices, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks and the controller general of accounts (CGA).

A core group on computerization of treasuries had been working to formulate a draft scheme on the treasuries MMP under NeGP.

The finance ministry has also formed a technical advisory group for unique projects (TAGUP) under, UID Chairman, Nandan Nilekani.
