CIC issues show cause notice to IOA

IOA has not responded to the RTI query seeking Suresh Kalmadi’s tour expenses

Central information commission (CIC) has issued a show cause notice to central public information officer of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for not responding to the RTI query related to Suresh Kalmadi’s tours details.

CIC has asked the CPIO, George Mathew, that why Rs 25, 000 should not be deducted from his salary for not responding to the application within 30 days.

In his RTI application filed on August 21th with the IOA, Delhi based social activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal had asked among other things, detailed account of expenses made on foreign and domestic tours of Shri Suresh Kalmadi, President of Indian Olympic Association in last five years mentioning separately amount spent in different heads like travelling, boarding, lodging, entertainment, gifts etc.

Till date, IOA has not responded to the application.

The CPIO has been given 30 days to reply to the show cause notice.
