Delhi govt. schools with central board of secondary education (CBSE) affiliation have a cause for cheer with publication of the tenth grade results. The strength of schools with 100 percent passing of candidates appeared has doubled within a year

Delhi education minister Arvinder Singh Lovely commended the government CBSE schools' performance here on Wednesday and noted that the board has shown unprecedented growth of approximately 8.10 percent.

In 2001-02 the pass percentage in class 10 examinations was only 46.14 while it has reached 99.09 percent in 2011. This year 326 schools saw 100 percent passing of candidates while last year the figure stood at 166 schools. Moreover, 893 government schools have students with scores above 90 percent as against 609 schools last year. 

The performance of girls has increased keeping up with the national trend - they have done better than boys. The overall qualifying percentage of the girls is 99.16 percent this year whereas it is 98.90 percent of boys.

Lovely said, “There has been an increase of 43,003 students passing over the figure the last year. The number of students who have appeared from the government schools in 10th class examination has increased from 1,32,020 to 1,75,023. This reflects excellent performance of the students of government schools in Delhi.”
