Delhi ranks no.1 in govt school category

For the fifth consecutive year, Delhi remained number one in the government school category in the country in Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 results. As the CBSE results are announced on Monday, state education minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said, “The overall performance of Delhi region has improved from 84.97 percent last year to 85.45 percent this year. We have recorded a 0.48 percent increase from last year.”

“Girls as always have done better than boys with their overall performance rising upto 89.72 percent from 89.13 percent last year. And the percentage of boys is 81.58 percent this year, to 81.12 percent last year," he said.

The number of students who appeared from government schools in class 12 increased from 97,402 to 1,12,189, he said.

The minister said, “Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalayas (RPVVs) schools have had a 97.62 percent result which is more than that of Delhi kendriya vidyalayas and public schools of Delhi. This is a remarkable achievement. I want to congratulate the Directorate of Education, all the principals and teachers of all the schools for imparting quality education in government schools. Our teachers have been very busy with the census and the Games, but despite that they have put in extra efforts and helped our children perform better."

Six years ago only 18 government schools achieved 100 percent results. And this year, 70 schools have achieved 100 percent results against 63 last year.  Moreover, 398 government schools have achieved 90 pecent.
