The long-running feud between the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) threatens to douse the Games cheer, whatever little might come-by the common-man's way.

The two transport bodies are now involved in a dispute over exclusive routes during the Games, each having blocked transit for the other in routes under respective jurisdiction.

DTC sources said that UPSRTC buses have not yet been permitted to operate on routes near the Games venues - thus making these routes exclusive for the former's buses. In retaliation, UPSRTC has barred DTC buses from plying in routes near the cycling venue which is in Noida.

DTC, however, maintains that the problem could be hinging more on a technicality than any so-called feud.

But instances of the transport bodies' step-sisterly attitude towards each other are dime a dozen. Only until three years ago, the buses of either transport corporations were not allowed within each other's jurisdiction.
