Fake job offer letter stumps RD ministry babus

The letter, drafted in the name of director, MGNREGA offers a position of organiser with a salary of Rs 11,578

A fake job offer letter, purportedly from MGNREGA director, on her letter head and bearing her signature has sent the rural development ministry babus in a tizzy.

With the letter having been  received by many people across the country, the director has been  flooded with calls enquiring about the job forcinng the ministry to issue a clarification.

“It is brought to the notice of all concerned that a fake letter is under wide circulation which is purportedly issued by Sh Indu Sharma, project director, MGNREGA, on  her letter head carrying national emblem and the emblem and name of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural employment Gurantee Act 2005, Ministry of Rural development Govt. of India,” a circular issued on June 1 said.

“It may please be noticed that the ministry of rural development has nothing to do with the above mentioned letter offering the position of organiser at the starting salary and daily allowances  therein mentioned on contract basis for a period of four years,” the circular further said.

Those who have bee in receipt of this letter (individuals from south India, especially Andhra Pradesh) have been callling Sharma on her office phone number as well as on her personal mobile.

On enquiry from one such person, it was revealed that the letter was being sold at a price of Rs 20,000.

According to the ministry, this is fraud perpetrated by someone in the name of rural development ministry and it has advised those in receipt of such letter to seek redressal from police.
