Maha committee to review varisties performance

Committee to be headed by the Governor, will review syllabi, accreditations, qualified regular teachers, audited accounts

The Maharashtra government has announced that an expert committee will be appointed under the chairmanship of the Governor to carry out the review of Key Performance Indicators of universities.

Grants to the various universities and colleges would be released strictly on the basis of the key performance indicators, a Raj Bhawan official said.

A decision to this effect was taken at a presentation on higher education made before Governor K Sankaranarayanan by minister of higher and technical education Rajesh Tope at Raj Bhavan,Mumbai yesterday.

Addressing the meeting on this occasion, the Governor expressed the need for carrying out regular review of key performance indicators of universities. This according to him is necessary to maintain highest standards of education in the State and to make it globally competitive.

The key performance indicators include maintaining upto date syllabi, accreditations, number of qualified regular teachers, audited accounts submitted to the Accountant General, etc.
