In the wake of the murder of two youths by eve-teasers in Amboli here, the Maharashtra Government has planned to crack down strongly on the menace of eve-teasing, through a helpline and by launching an awareness campaign.

Minister of state for home Satej Patil said, mobile users will be sent SMS, giving details of the helpline number 103, as well as the numbers 7738133133 and 7738144144, where complaints of eve-teasing can be registered.

Similarly, one can also register a complaint on www.mumbaipolice.org, he said, adding that the helpline number- 1091, will be activitated for rest of the state in two days.

"Police have been asked to launch massive awareness campaign in Mumbai, telling citizens that eve-teasing is a crime," he said.

Patil said plain clothes police women will be stationed at all colleges in Mumbai. "Police will report eve- teasers to their parents," he said.

Patil was speaking after meeting a delegation of National Students' Union of India (NSUI) Mumbai unit, who took up the issue of eve-teasing in Mumbai colleges.

Last month, two youngsters were killed, when they objected to eve-teasing of their female friends.
