The supreme court on Tuesday sought responses from DMRC, Delhi government and the centre on a plea for providing sufficient basic amenities like potable water, toilet and seating facility at all metro railway platforms in the national capital and NCR regions.

A bench of justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma issued notices to the authorities on a special leave petition filed by an NGO Voice of India complaining of "lack" of basic amenities at most of the metro rail platforms.

The apex court, while issuing the notices, allowed the NGO's chairman Dhanesh Ieshdhan, to argue the matter in person.

The petition alleged the Delhi high court had on January 29, 2009, erroneously dismissed his petition without going into the merits of the NGO's complaint.

It alleged that due to "lack" of sufficient potable water, toilets and seating arrangements passengers waitiing to board the trains were subjected to lots of inconvenience.
