Phasing out the 1600 private Blueline/Whiteline buses from the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) routes from Sunday caused inconvenience to the commuters. Monday morning brought a host of problems for commuters.

The worst hit route was Vikas Marg where the commuters had to face a tough time. They had to wait at the stop for a longer time than usual.

The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) had to  bring in 100 additional buses on the routes from where private buses have been removed. The DTC authorities have already expressed their inability to provide as many buses as those removed from the NDMC roads.

"We can just provide 50 percent of the buses phased out, " a DTC offcial admitted. However, the corporation will be able to earn extra revenue during the period.

Acting on the directives of the Delhi government, the state transport authority asked the private operators to shift the buses from the existing routes falling in NDMC jurisdiction to other routes.

The private buses will not be allowed to ply on these routes between September 26 and October 19 in view of the Commonwealth Games.
