Reservation for 'poor' Muslims: right step or wrong?

A Supreme Court bench has cleared Andhra Pradesh's move to grant reservation for “socially and educationally backward classes” of Muslims, while a constitution bench will take a final decision. The very word reservation or quota elicits sharp reactions in India and the latest move only adds one more dimension – of religion – to the debate. While those who favour the policy of empowerment through positive discrimination would welcome the move to enlarge the scope of quota to the other marginalised communities, many would argue that such a step will only lead to demands for more and more quota favours from more and more groups.

What is your view: is the reservation for 'poor' Muslims a right step or wrong?
