Should Advani have given the go-ahead to Modi's elevation in BJP?

From all accounts, it was an ego tussle between BJP patriarch LK Advani and rising star Narendra Modi. Post-elevation at the party’s Goa executive meeting on Sunday, many are in fact hailing the Gujarat chief minister as the new-age Advani. With most of the party leadership reportedly in favour of making Modi the face of BJP, and reveal him as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate for 2014 general elections, did Advani stretch his opposition a bit too far? Has he lost face as the party’s senior statesman with his continuous opposition and virtual boycott of the Goa summit (officially, the senior MP did not go to Goa due to stomach ailment, though he was seen leaving his New Delhi home on Monday morning, just a day after the Goa meet got over).
