The much awaited Passport Seva project will be launched this March, joint secretary (CPV) in ministry of external affairs told Governance Now.
"A date has not been finalized yet. However all issues related to the software has been sorted out," the official said.
The project was to be launched in March last year in Chandigarh and Bangalore followed by the rest of the country but was delayed due various reasons including software issues identified by the IT auditor, STQC.
Shashi Tharoor, minister of state of external affairs had earlier stated that the government has embarked on passport seva project (PSP) to comprehensively transform passport service delivery and is establishing 77 passport seva kendras (PSK) across the country.
