Factionalism hurting Congress in Haryana: Selja

Selja: Chief minister to address complaints over regional imbalances

Union minister Kumari Selja on Sunday claimed that factionalism is harming the ruling congress party's interest in Haryana.

Speaking to reporters here, the housing and urban poverty alleviation minister said factionalism does exist in the party's state unit.

"I was among those party leaders against whom a resolution was adopted after the Congress's debacle in recent Hisar by-elections.

Factionalism had harmed the party in the state," Selja, who is understood to be among the detractors of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, claimed.

While stating that Haryana has witnessed all round development under the Congress regime, she remarked that the chief minister has to address complaints, if any, over regional imbalances in this process.

The Ambala MP, however, pointed out that delay in execution of development work in some areas should not be termed as discrimination.

Selja claimed Congress would do well in the ensuing assembly polls in five states.

Responding to a query, the union minister expressed her concern over the withdrawal of security cover of senior party leader Jagdish Nehra.

"Nehra has been among the most loyal leaders of the party in the state. And he has served as minister in the state government twice. He deserves a security cover from the state police," she said.
