Former IAS officer launches interactive website on polls

users can find information about candidates, constituencies, total votes polled and winning margins in 2002 and 2007 assembly elections

An interactive website listing information regarding two past assembly elections in five states which go to polls later this month was launched on Monday.

Five states -- Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur -- will feature on the website, in Chandigarh, users can find information about candidates, constituencies, total votes polled and winning margins in 2002 and 2007 assembly elections among other things.

"The world's first election ready reckoner would be a boon to poll pundits and political parties, voters and vote seekers, academicians, media persons and any person trying to make sense of voluminous election data figures," D S Jaspal, who retired from service on 31st December and has had eight stints in the public relations department of Punjab, claimed.

Interactive graphics, comparisons about the performance of candidates or parties and data on the basis of ascending or descending winning margins can also be found on the "user-friendly" website.
