Ramadan brings reprieve from power outages for UP districts

Govt exempts all district headquarters and cities from power rostering for Ramadan

In the wake of ongoing Ramzan month, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited has decided to exempt all district headquarters and cities, specially those having sizeable Muslim population, from power rostering during night hours.

The decision has been taken on the directives of Chief Minister Mayawati and efforts would be made to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the state, UPPCL chairman Navneet Sehgal said.

As per the decision directives have been issued to ensure uniterrupted power supply between 7 pm to 7 am, he said, adding additional power has been arranged to for uniterrupted power supply during this period.

Issue of uninterrupted power supply was raised by the Opposition in both the Houses of the state Assembly during the ongoing monsoon session.
