The Delhi University Teacher's Association's (DUTA) Executive Committee in its meeting on Monday decided to make the university non-functional from 31st August onwards - if the vice chancellor Deepak Pental's term is extended after he retires this year, completing a five-year tenure.

DUTA in its press release said that Prof. Pental as the Vice-Chancellor has violated all the provisions of the University Act, Statutes and Ordinances in trying to implement semester system.

DUTA had submitted a detailed charge-sheet to the Visitor against the VC and had demanded an enquiry. It has also been protesting against the Prof Pental regarding the selling of radio-active gamma irradiator as scrap.

DUTA will start its protests from 1st of September by holding black ribbon demonstration when the Vice President of India Hamid Ansari, also the Chancellor, will visit the University.

After that, it plans to hold strike on 7th, 8th and 9th of September. Followed by a massive demonstration at Jantar Mantar on 13th. And on 14th and 15th teachers will interact with students regarding semester system.
