Former IPS officer YP Singh on Thursday accused Arvind Kejriwal of shielding Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar even as the India Against Corruption (IAC) came to the anti-corruption activist’s defence, and clarified that it had no such agenda.

The irony could not be missed as Singh called a press meet in Mumbai, where the script seemed like based on Kejriwal’s series of press meets, with dramatic revelations and grandstanding speeches. The gist of Singh’s allegation was that he and his colleagues had given enough material on Pawar’s allegedly corrupt dealings but Kejriwal didn’t include it in his press meet of Wednesday (in which he targeted BJP president Nitin Gadkari).

Singh said there was enough damning evidence against Pawar and his daughter Supriya Sule, MP, and sough explanation from Kejriwal why it was not made public.

While Kejriwal could not be reached, his IAC colleague Manish Sisodia told TV channels that there was no question of shielding Pawar. “In fact, during our dharna in Delhi earlier this year, we had come out with charges against 15 ministers and Pawar was one of them,” he said.

Sisodia, in fact, had kind words for Singh, calling him a colleague and describing his work as valuable. “I don’t know why he is targeting Arvind,” he said.

In any case, Pawar would not be too happy with the latest ‘expose’ from IAC as it involves his party and his nephew (Ajit Pawar) as much as it does Gadkari.
