MGNREGA: JK govt earmarks Rs 2,100 cr as labour budget

Rural development minister Ali Mohammad Sagar asks officials to ensure that funds are utilised as per guidelines

Jammu and Kashmir government has earmarked Rs 2,100 crore as labour budget under MGNREGA scheme, an official spokesman said.

This was stated by Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar during a meeting here yesterday, the spokesman said.

Sagar asked the officials to ensure that the funds earmarked for the scheme are utilised as per the guidelines.

The Minister also directed them to work in synergy with the Panchayati Raj representatives, saying that it was necessary for ensuring need-based development of these areas.

"They (representatives) should also be consulted during plan formulation so that concerned needs of their respective areas are incorporated in it," Sagar said.
