Why did Mulayam Singh visit Pranab Mukherjee?

Subha Mudgal concert in Rashtrapahti Bhavan creates political flutter with Mulayam Singh Yadav’s participation

GN Bureau | September 24, 2012

Mulayam Singh Yadav drove to  Rashtrapathi Bhavan to enjoy the Subha Mudgal musical concert with President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday but that has
created a flutter in Delhi political circles.

Moreover, the timing was such that Mulayam Singh got inside the Rashtrapathi Bhavan as the Prime Minister carcade was coming out which added up to the
surchaged political speculative atmosphere.

This Mulayam visit has created a political flutter-flurry of activities specially for Hindi TV channels. But there was no politics - no withdrawal- no political discussions.

The invitees to the concert apart from "Netaji" were Law Minister Salman Khurdshid, Rajiv Sukhla, Pulok Chatterjee Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.

Mulayam Singh Yadav obviously not properly understood the reason for this invitation - but he told media that he got an invitation to meet the President at 6 pm.

Invitation from President Estate. It was all a Musical concert the President of India attends - a monthly routine affair since the days of APJ Abdul Kalam Azad at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan.

Arrival of Manmohan Singh inside President House, relegated to second slot, as huge rush of Hindi TV newschannels focused on Mulayam Singh visit.to
the President Estate.

To dispel possible political speculations, the President Secretariat officially released a photograph of President Pranab Mukherjee honouring Subha Mudgal
where Mulayam Singh Salman Khurshid and Rajiv Sukhla were seen in the photo taken at the  musical concert.
